Armenia Knows Value of Peace Very Well: Ara Aivazian

On March 29, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Ara Aivazian responded to the questions of the deputies after presenting the Implementation on the Procedure and Results of the Government Programme for 2020 of the Republic of Armenia at the sitting of the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations.

The deputy Shirak Torosyan mentioned the names of the countries which still suffer from the aggressive rhetoric and actions of Turkey. Among them are Greece, Cyprus, Syria, Lebanon and Iraq: “We have one format of relations: Armenia – Cyprus - Greece. The Defense Minister of Iraq visited Armenia on these days. Don’t you think that those formats should be more activated, as those countries also receive blows from Turkey? In that sense, we become natural allies,” the deputy said.

Ara Aivazian, answering to the MP’s question, noted that of course, the results of the last war force taking a more pragmatic approach to the agenda of the foreign policy of Armenia. “And now our first problem should be the security agenda of Armenia and shaping favorable atmosphere around Armenia,” he noted.

The Minister underlined that the mentioned formats are on the agenda of Armenia. “But Armenia, more than any country, knows the value of peace very well, and we do not look for enemies. We will do our best to shape a really stable security atmosphere around Armenia,” Aivazian said.
